Here's a little introduction to the band, although the DANCE ON collective is so adaptable that the word 'band' doesn't really do us justice! We all work as professional musicians (see below for what we get up to when we're not keeping you guys entertained) and it's fair to say we have played at pretty much every conceivable type of wedding celebration, swanky corporate party, posh black tie ball, birthday knees-up and shindig that you can imagine!! We offer a full range of musical services which can suit the tone of your event from start to finish - here are just some of the different line-ups we have performed in . . .
The full and feisty party band at numerous weddings, parties and corporate events up and down the country - a guaranteed dancefloor filler playing a winning selection of everyone's favourite songs - from big band swing, rock 'n' roll and motown soul to seventies disco, eighties pop, grungy rock and current chart hits - something there for everyone . . . even the cheesy tunes are played with STYLE!
We can provide "mood music" - some call it background music, as we did for a corporate drinks reception at the Savoy Hotel in London with a laid back jazz quartet - think Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and Rat Pack classics, with a little bit of Stevie Wonder, Alisha Keys and James Morrison.
We can set a more formal tone, playing as a duo with a classical pianist and trumpeter performing repertoire by Purcell, Mozart, Debussy. We had the pleasure of being part of a wedding ceremony in a fantastic tithe barn in the Oxfordshire countryside, where we also included a piece of music that the groom had written as a bridal march for his future wife.
We can bring a personal touch to that all important big occasion, some people prefer a more laid back approach, as when we sang the bride and groom down the aisle to "Signed, sealed delivered I'm yours" with pianist, singer and saxophonist, at an informal wedding ceremony in a beautiful old Welsh castle.
We work to create just the right atmosphere - we were found getting groovy with our funkadelic hammond organ trio - think Austin Powers - at a uni ball in Bath - yeah baby!
We'll always try to accommodate your requests for what you have in mind for your event - if we can't do it ourselves we usually "know a man who can" and can recommend many fine musicians - and if by chance you're after something which isn't easy to replicate live convincingly - say some Mongolian folk music, a rousing chorus from a male voice choir or the latest Dizzee Rascal release, then we will happily play the original through our very sparkly PA system.
If you book 'Dance On' you are sure of getting great musical entertainment from a band who enjoy what they do and have a lot of experience behind them... despite their youthful appearances!!! Members of the band have performed in such prestigious surroundings as the O2 Arena(!), the Albert Hall, Shepherds Bush Empire, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Soho and Camden's Jazz Cafe, as well as appearing on MTV, VH1, "Later - with Jools Holland", Channel 4, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 4... and have played with the mighty Tom Jones, Scissor Sisters, India Arie, Kasabian, Super Furry Animals, Jools Holland, The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, The Duke Ellington Repertory Orchestra, Morcheeba, Limahl of Kajagoogoo fame, Jimmy James, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Ruby Turner and lets not forget the fabulous Max Bygraves! Corporate clients have included the NHS, the British Transport Police, British Gas, Marks and Spencer, Cardiff City Council, Capital Gold FM, Deloitte and Touche, Securicor and many others.
'Dance On' uses a comprehensive Mackie sound system and stage and dancefloor lighting. As part of the service on a 'Dance On' booking, background music or dance music will always be provided when the band are not performing.
